A 2022 GED graduate, Valentina Esmurria is now caring for student patients at the East Hartford High School School Based Health Center. Valentina recently shared with us how earning her GED changed the trajectory of her life.
"Earning my GED was a really meaningful milestone for me and my family. It represented perseverance and a second chance to keep moving forward despite earlier challenges. For my family, it was a proud moment that showed how determination and support can make a difference. That experience motivated me to continue buildinga career in healthcare and to set an example for those around me.''
As a Medical Assistant in the SBHC, Valentina supports both clinical and administrative tasks. Her responsibilities include assisting providers during patient visits, taking vital signs, preparing exam rooms, maintaining patient records, and helping ensure the clinic runs smoothly. She also works closely with students/patients to make them feel comfortable and supported, which is something she finds especially rewarding.
We are so proud to see Valentina transition from student to colleague as many of our other students have in the past.
